ASA 3D Printing Material Guide

ASA is a material to discuss for prolonged sunlight and weather exposure. It is available by request, outside the standard online quote options.

Tell the shop what the part needs to do, including expected load, heat, and exposure. Availability and material properties alone do not establish suitability for your finished part.

Heads up

Available by request.

ASA isn't in the online quote options yet, so you won't see it in the configurator.

Contact the shop with your file and intended use to check availability, suitability, and price before ordering.

Good for

Outdoor signs, garden accessories, and other applications discussed with the shop. For a loaded mount or safety-related use, describe the design and conditions before deciding on a material.

Strengths

UV resistance is a reason to compare ASA for outdoor use. How long a printed part performs depends on the particular filament, design, conditions, and print settings.

It has good impact and heat resistance and can be sanded or painted. The temperature and load limits of a finished part depend on its design and print settings.

Tradeoffs

Like ABS, ASA can show warping on large flat parts. Surface finish and suitability depend on the filament, geometry, and print settings.

ASA has no standard online price here. Ask the shop to confirm availability and a project-specific quote, and compare PLA or PETG when prolonged sun exposure is not part of the intended use.

How to order it

Email [email protected] with your STL or 3MF, quantity, intended use, and any deadline. The shop can check suitability, availability, and pricing before you plan an order. Do not select another online material and expect it to be substituted with ASA.
